How To Do Milling Works For Pavement
There was a depression happened at the bridge joint which jointed the bridge with roads. With that said, milling works have to be carried on to ensure the pavement on the concrete bridge has the same level with pavement on the roads. Milling work is a process where contractor cut off the pavement on the depression location, and resurface the premix again. It’s quite a heavy works for pavement works.
Step-By-Step On How To Do Milling Works For Pavement
1) Traffic management has to be done before the works can be started. It’s the authority’s requirement, or else the authority will stop your works on the spot. Authority has their requirement on how the traffic management has to be look like, to make the works smooth, try to look for some contractors who have been doing the traffic management before with the authority’s others works. The road has been closed 1 lane and leave another lane for vehicles to pass by.
2) After the traffic management has been done, milling works can be started. Firstly, a milling machine is ready to mill the depression pavement. After the milling process, the premix dust has to be cleared up, so that the contractor can lay another new layer of premix on it.
3) After the milling works, a cutting machine has to be used to cut the corner premix which can’t be done by milling machine. After the cutting machine cut off the corner premix, backhoe is used to dig up the premix.
4) After cutting the corner premix and clean up the milling area. A layer of ACWC (Asphaltic Concrete Wearing Course ) has to be sprayed on it before the new premix can be lay.
5) After that, a paver is ready to be used and lay the new layer of premix on the road. A lorry is filling the premix into the paver. After that, the paver is starting to lay the premix on the milling location. A worker is spreading the premix so that the premix will not gather at the same location. After that, a few workers are wiping out the bigger size of premix so that the premix lay can be smoother.
6) After the premix laying process, the premix has to be compacted with vibro roller and tandem roller.
* Vibro Roller
* Tandem Roller
7) After compacting, 1 lane has been done. Now move to another lane, the same process has to be carried on as the first lane.
Both lanes have been done, line marking has to be drawn with white in colour.
9) Milling works has been done!
The time for whole process of the milling works for the depression area for 2 lanes has been taken for about 6 hours. It takes time, but the location no longer has depression happened. It’s a heavy works which uses up to 5 different machine, more than 20 workers and spend about 6 hours time to be done. The cost for milling works is definitely high but reasonable. It’s not like constructing concrete curb, build concrete curb is a small light works while doing milling work is a heavy works. But all the works are important in the construction sphere.
